| Zack huffed a bit at Eli’s sudden enthusiasm about his brother, he would never admit it but occasionally he feels a twinge of jealousy whenever he sees Will around Eli, or even when Eli just says Will’s name. Something about their closeness bothered him, more so he doesn’t understand why he can’t be that close to someone. In fact he wants to be close with Eli, but Will is in the way of that. Their parents are the worst there can be, so often Zack tries his best to be the good older twin that he needs to be, which meant keeping his mouth shut about Will’s apparent crush on Eli. God, Will could go on and on about Eli for hours as if it was a biography that was due by sunrise, Zack thought to himself. He turned his head back to the rain in front of them as his eyebrows furrowed, an unnoticeable frown spread across his face. I can speak like that too about her, he said in his own mind. |
| “I see every quality and aspect about her just as much as he does, I think about her just as much as he does, I miss her at times too, why can’t I express that?” Zack’s lips curled inwards as he squinted towards the rain in front of him, his thoughts were racing and he could feel his own heart pounding in his chest. He doesn’t quite understand why his body is suddenly so panicked, it’s like he needs to get something out of him right this instant. His eyes glanced over to Eli, only to see her reaching out towards the rain and running her hand under the falling water droplets. His expression softened as he watched Eli express her inner child, seeming amazed by the rain touching her skin. Eli’s presence has always been comforting to Zack, although having only known her for a few months now, this is probably the safest he’s ever felt around anyone. |
| Now relaxed once more, and his mind at peace, he could actually articulate what he wants to do in order to express these emotions towards Eli. He scooted closer to Eli, pulling his legs up towards him and crossing them under each other. Eli was still busy messing with the rain which humbled Zack, as he spent a little longer just watching Eli be her true self. Eli snapped her head towards Zack when she heard him murmur her name, cocking her head to the side as she questioned him with just her eyes. Zack leaned back a little, holding himself up with his hands against the porch as he looked down into his lap, his voice was soft, almost a whisper as he spoke,”You know something?” His eyes trailed upwards, now meeting Eli’s uncovered eye,”I always thought you were the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen.” |
